The Finer Things 1920 | Advent Box Design

The Advent Box was a custom-designed holiday piece created exclusively for members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., commissioned by The Finer Things. Designed to be both functional and luxurious, the box featured 16 individual drawers—each containing a handpicked gift—intended to be opened daily from January 1 through January 16. This unique countdown experience extended the spirit of the holidays into the new year while celebrating the sisterhood in a meaningful and stylish way. The overall aesthetic paid homage to the sorority’s rich heritage, combining elegance with a sense of anticipation and delight.

Process & Design

Strategy and precision played a vital role in the success of this project, with every measurement and design element requiring intentional planning. Before any visuals were developed, we focused on the structural build—customizing everything from the barn-style doors that opened the box, to the velcro-secured logo clasp that held it shut. Each drawer was uniquely sized to fit the exact dimensions of its assigned gift, making this a fully tailored experience from the inside out. With no templates to lean on, this was a true ground-up build where each gift was strategically placed to ensure both balance and excitement as recipients moved through each day.
